In-Transit Permits

An in-transit permit is required to move an unregistered vehicle or trailer from one location to another within Canada. This is a temporary registration certificate only, and the vehicle must have valid insurance before it can be moved.

Requirements & Restrictions

If the vehicle is being moved outside of Alberta, you will need to show proof of ownership (e.g., a bill of sale) as well as proof of insurance.

Important: You must provide the complete start and end addresses for the vehicle's journey. Please note that these permits are not valid for travel outside of Canada.
